# Relationship: Microsoft, Ward County (custody)

> Custody pointer for Microsoft at Ward County.

* **Kind:** Custody
* **Version:** 1
* **Fleet Manager owner:** Fleet Manager squad, #fleet-manager-chat (individual claimant pending)
* **Counterpart owner:** the Nscale account team for this customer; engineering contact unassigned
* **Last reviewed:** 2026-09-09

## What flows

Custody is expressed on `Device.operational_status` per ADR-0013 and driven by the satellite's engagement mode
(`EngagementMode` in `src/fleet_manager/settings/agents/workflow.py`). Self-managed after [handover](../start-here/glossary#handover); the
inventory feed through the Matrix connector (see [matrix-connector](./matrix-connector)) is staged for Ward County,
not yet enabled: the `wdc1` connector instance is `enabled: false` and serves no traffic until cutover
(see [Matrix Connector Operations](../operator-guide/matrix-connector-operations)). Fleet Manager has no [device](../start-here/glossary#node)
access once delegated. Commercial terms are not restated here.

## What breaks if this changes

A change to the engagement mode or to the handoff and [reclaim](../start-here/glossary#reclaim) workflows changes what Fleet Manager may read or
act on for this customer's hardware. See
[Delegated Device Health](../operator-guide/delegated-device-health).

## Enforcement

* ADR-0013; Release and Quarantine workflows; per-satellite engagement mode configuration.

## Gaps

* No engineering contact recorded on the customer side.

## Change log

* 2026-09-09 v1: created; pointer only.
